Olga Tokarczuk received her honorary doctorate at the Sorbonne on Tuesday 25th March. Tokarczuk is the first Polish writer to have been honoured in this way.
‘In its statement, the University of Paris wrote that Olga Tokarczuk's books draw on topics close to her heart, such as mystery, myths and travel.’ The novel The Books of James, considered to be one of her most important works, has won very high praise from critics and the public,’ reports the French Embassy in Poland on Facebook.
Olga Tokarczuk, a writer and the winner of the 2018 Nobel Prize for Literature, was one of eight foreign personalities who received an honorary doctorate by the Sorbonne on 25th March 2025. The Olga Tokarczuk Foundation writes about the prestigious award on FB.
Tokarczuk holds an honorary doctorate from the University of Wroclaw and has the title of Honorary Citizen of Wroclaw.
