  3. Wroclaw's Techland has a world hit. Dying Light 2: Stay Human

Techland is one of the most recognisable computer game producers and distributors in Poland. In February 2022, after seven years from the premiere of the first part, the second part of the Dying Light cult game was launched and immediately became a hit.

On the first night, 160,000 persons played it. Paweł Marchewka –  the founder and CEO of Techland – is the laureate of the Wroclaw 30 Creative competition.

Techland is a world-renowned company. Since 1991, it has produced popular computer games. The most important games are: Exterminacja, Crime Cities, Call of Juarez or Dead Island. In 2015, Dying Light, in which the world got under the control of the “infected”, became a real hit. Its long-awaited follow-up – Dying Light 2: Stay Human – has just been launched.

Dying Light 2. Stay Human is an action game in which we explore a city destroyed by a virus that turns people into zombies. ‘The virus won and the civilisation has returned to the Dark Ages. The City, one of the humanity’s last bastions, is on the verge of collapse. Use your dexterity and fighting skills to survive and change the world. Your decisions are important,’ encourages the description of the game on Steam. The player takes the role of Aiden Caldwell, who fights zombies in the Villedor city.

The game appeared on the Steam digital platform on 4th February at 1:00 a.m. (Polish time). Around 160,000 persons immediately started playing it, and further 3 million entered it on their wishlist. Almost 2,500 reviews (76% of them positive) were submitted till the morning.

Techland has provided emotion and great fun to players for over 30 years, and Dying Light 2 is currently one of the most popular games on Steam. It is even five times more popular than the previous part. Paweł Marchewka, the founder of Techland, said in one of the interviews: ‘I think that our game will make it to the world Top 10 in the year of the premiere.’ It seems he was right.

In 2021, Techland received the Socially Responsible Business Award of the Mayor of Wroclaw. Paweł Marchewka’s company was recognised by Jacek Sutryk, Mayor of Wroclaw, for ‘taking care of the local community and the working and living comfort of its employees’. During the coronavirus pandemic, Techland helps people in need – for example, it donated computers to children from orphanages.
